Peter Schröder is the owner of a system integrator that specializes in server and cloud topics. Again and again he has seen and implemented application areas for IOT (Internet of Things) and cloud at customers.
When he spoke to Christoph Zaleski about this, they developed the idea of designing a "modern" donut fryer: every sensor, motor, etc. should be digitally controllable and analyzable - and the values should be able to be evaluated via the cloud. This enables "predictive maintenance": detecting errors before they occur.
